Integrating drama into the curriculum engages a student physically, emotionally, and verbally. When participating in drama, a student develops empathy and sensitivity to new perspectives. Drama invites a student into learning about subject through increased involvement and engagement by building comprehension of characters and developing social skills. Visual Arts

Adding elements of visual arts into school can help a student gain an appreciation regarding the variety of techniques used to create the visual elements surrounding them. From photography to filmmaking, visual arts can serve as a means of capturing and evaluating their environment and creating a universe of the imagination. It can deepen the understanding of a field of study by promoting research and then having the student translate what they have learning into a visual medium.

Music

Listening to and participating in music engages a student both cognitively and physically. The connection of physically using a musical instrument and the stimulation to the brain can help improve coordination, memory, and comprehension skills. Music can be a form of self-expression where a student can reflect and showcase emotions. Music integration could include singing, exposure to musical instruments, and add a level of breadth to the other art disciplines.

Choice

You have a choice in elementary education. As a free public school, we can accept any Utah resident student. We have no enrollment boundaries and don't discriminate based on your address.

I believe arts education in music, theater, dance, and the visual arts is one of the most creative ways we have to find the gold that is buried just beneath the surface. They (children) have an enthusiasm for life a spark of creativity, and vivid imaginations that need training – training that prepares them to become confident young men and women.

Richard W. Riley

Former US Secretary of Education

We need people who think with the creative side of their brains—people who have played in a band, who have painted…it enhances symbiotic thinking capabilities, not always thinking in the same paradigm, learning how to kick-start a new idea, or how to get a job done better, less expensively.

Annette Byrd

GlaxoSmithKline

Amazing new school! As a former homeschool parent, we couldn't be happier with our first time full day school experience. The teachers are incredible!

Stormie W.

Parent

The arts are not a frill. The arts are a response to our individuality and our nature, and help to shape our identity. What is there that can transcend deep difference and stubborn divisions? The arts. They have a wonderful universality. Art has the potential to unify. It can speak in many languages without a translator. The arts do not discriminate. The arts can lift us up.

Barbara Jordan

Former Texas Congresswoman

The arts are an essential element of education, just like reading, writing, and arithmetic…music, dance, painting, and theater are all keys that unlock profound human understanding and accomplishment.

William Bennett

Former US Secretary of Education
