Megan Redd's Bio
My name is Megan Redd and I will be working as the Arts Integration Specialist at Advantage Arts Academy. I grew up in Oakton, Virginia, just about thirty minutes outside of Washington, DC. I attended Brigham Young University where I received my Bachelor of Fine Arts in Studio Art and my K-12 Teaching License. I completed my student teaching at two schools in Washington, DC and have been working for the past two years as a middle and elementary school art teacher in Northern Virginia.
I am a huge advocate for the arts. I love to create my own art, especially printmaking, collage, and photography. I also love to teach art because I believe everyone can be an artist. Art is a skill that can be learned and developed like any other skill as we practice using it. Children are so creative and I appreciate their willingness to experiment and try new things. I so look forward to working with you and your families as we practice and develop creative problem solving skills through the arts.
Some of my hobbies and interests include going to art museums, running outside, and trying out new recipes. I am so excited to collaborate to create a beautiful school community that lifts and empowers as we integrate the arts of dance, music, drama, and visual arts in our learning.
