Lisa Evans's Bio
My name is Lisa Evans and have been an administrator in the charter school system in Las Vegas, Nevada for seven years. Before administration, I taught for fifteen years in an elementary school in the Clark County School District (CCSD) in Las Vegas, Nevada. I was also an Instructional Coach in the school district and worked with the Curriculum Department as a Literacy Professional Development presenter and a member of the kindergarten committee. I was a member of the committee that unwrapped Common Core state standards when CCSD first implemented the standards. I received a Bachelors in Early Childhood/Elementary Education and a Masters in Special Education from University Nevada, Las Vegas. I have also earned a Master’s in Leadership and Administration.
I love working with students, teachers, and parents and find joy in learning about them. I believe the most effective structure in a school is to empower their staff and students to find their strength and to become a leader in that area. My personal mission statement is to learn about everyone I meet and to connect with them in some way. I also want to help others find their strengths and to become a leader in their areas of strength.
To be the Director/Principal of Advantage Arts Academy has fulfilled a lifetime goal. I am honored to share my joy of the arts with the students and families. The arts integration that our school will provide can help students thrive in their education journey as stated in the quote by Benjamin Franklin, “Tell me and I forget. Teach me and I remember. Involve me and I learn.” The art integration model will involve the students in a way that will support lifelong learning.
Besides being an educator, my greatest joy is being a mother and grandmother. I have three children and two twin grandsons. I also love dancing, singing, and painting and am passionate about the arts.
